About my journey towards insight
We live in the future, and so should our health.
It's the 21st century, and often, our medical providers don't feel like they're operating in the same decade. We are usually left to advocate for ourselves. We fight to be heard by our doctors, our insurance, or maybe even our loved ones. I know this dynamic made me feel lost and confused, resulting in me trying to stuff down my aches, pains, and flutters. But then I learned that we can integrate tools, devices, apps, and more into our lives to give the answers we need. If you're looking for help to understand your body, your mind, and how those things are affected by the things around you, you're in the right place. Let's grow and learn together.

Why did I start Insight Health?
I started tracking my heart rate because I was scared. I wasn't necessarily afraid of the number itself, but more of the unknown—of walking around inside a body I couldn't read, with symptoms I couldn't explain, with medical bills I couldn't afford, and never really knowing what was real, imagination, or phantom. I was accruing medical bills that I couldn't afford because of anxiety, fear, and lack of insight.
The first device I bought changed something fundamentally for me. My health didn't change overnight. I didn't lose weight and immediately launch into my own fit-girl-summer. But my relationship to my body began to change. I could see patterns that I never knew existed. I could ask better questions about my physical body, my mind, and my overall well-being. And let me tell you, it was not great! I was finally able to start down the path of discovery, growth, and fascination with my health, instead of ripping through it with diets, over-exercising... You probably know the drill.
So, that's why I started Insight Health Tech. Right now, it's a blog: a resource for people who want to understand their bodies without breaking the bank or their mental health. For people who want evidence instead of marketing. Because we all deserve transparency in a space that too often trades in promises, miracles, and subscriptions with hidden fine print.
What We Do
Rigorous, hands-on reviews. I test devices over weeks and months, not days. Every review includes:
- Detailed test protocols with pass/fail thresholds
- Comparison against validated reference equipment
- Raw data and methodology (published, replicable)
- Privacy audits—actual deletion requests, not just policy summaries
- Total cost of ownership over 1-3 years
- Repairability and data portability assessments
Clinical study analysis. I read the research so you don't have to. When a company claims clinical validation, I track down the study, assess the methodology, and tell you what it actually proves—and what it doesn't.
Comparison guides and decision tools. Not every device is right for every person. I build comparison matrices and interactive tools to help you find what matches your goals, body, budget, and ecosystem.
Deep dives on accuracy, privacy, and value. The questions that matter: Does it work? Who sees your data? Can you export it? Will it last? What's the real cost?
How This Works
Independence. I buy devices with my own money or disclose when something is provided for review. I do not accept payment for positive or negative coverage. Ever.
Transparency. This site uses affiliate links, which help fund testing equipment, reference devices, and keep the reviews coming. If you buy through a link here, I may earn a small commission at no cost to you. It doesn't change what I write.
Evidence over adjectives. I show you charts, error rates, and test conditions. I cite sources. I publish scoring rubrics so you can see exactly why something got an 8.2 instead of a 7.9.
Your input matters. Email me with questions, device suggestions, or ideas. Tell me what you're struggling to figure out. Your experiences and needs shape what I test and how I test it.
The Larger Picture
These devices aren't just gadgets. They're tools for agency—for people managing chronic conditions, for athletes chasing incremental gains, for parents tracking sleep, for anyone who wants to participate in their own health instead of just receiving it passively.
But the market is a mess. Marketing claims that outpace evidence. Privacy policies written to obscure. Subscriptions that turn a $200 device into a $600 commitment. Accuracy that varies by skin tone, wrist size, or temperature, with no warning label.
I'm not here to tell you what to buy. I'm here to give you the information you need to decide for yourself—and to hold this industry to a higher standard in the process.
A Note on Medical Advice
I'm not a doctor. Nothing here is medical advice. If you have symptoms, concerns, or conditions that need monitoring, talk to a clinician. These reviews exist to help you evaluate tools, not replace professional care.
That said: your doctor may not know which blood pressure cuff is validated, which CGM integrates with your health system, or whether your smartwatch's ECG feature is worth the premium. That's where this comes in.
Let's Build This Together
This is a conversation, not a broadcast. Reach out. Ask questions. Challenge assumptions. Tell me what you need.
Together, we can create something better than another affiliate site recycling press releases. We can build a real resource—grounded in evidence, transparent in method, and honest about trade-offs.
Because you deserve to know what you're putting on your wrist, in your home, and into your life.
